Below are the minutes played and goals scored since the international break, along with the latest injury news
(information taken from Pellegrini's press conferences and physioroom.com). I'll be running this as a regular
feature on matchdays.
I'm going to hazard a guess about Pellegrini's rotation policy, and predict a starting place for Clichy, and
possibly Micah. Fernandinho has clocked up the most minutes in midfield since the international break
ended (334mins out of 360), so I think he might start on the bench. All of which makes my guess of the
starting line-up:
Pantilimon; Richards, Kompany, Demichelis, Clichy, García, Touré, Milner, Nasri, Negredo, Agüero.
(Subs) Hart, Zabaleta, Lescott, Kolarov, Fernandinho, Navas, Dzeko (Rodwell to miss out).
Win a new book on the origins of Manchester City
Predict City's starting line-up and win a copy of my new book, A Man's Game: The Birth of Mancunian
Football and the Origins of Manchester City FC (costs £9.75). The 218-page paperback reveals significant
new evidence about City's formative years, and explains how and why football became established in
Manchester, including newly-discovered details of the first ever match played in the city.
It also solves the mystery of why City's forerunner, Gorton Association, wore a Maltese Cross on their
shirts, and names every person in the 1884-85 team photo.
It's got great reviews so far, including one from the official match programme and a two-page review in the
King of the Kippax by history professor Stephen Rigby (see lower down the page).
How To Enter (UK & Ireland residents only)
Post your prediction for the starting line-up in the comments box below and the closest one will have a copy
of A Man's Game sent to you before Christmas. If you're the only one to enter, you win the prize, even if
your prediction is hopelessly wrong. Please include your prediction for Pellegrini's substitutions in the event
of a tie-breaker. One entry per person. If you're not a UK resident, you can still enter and have the prize
sent to a UK or Ireland address.
